Dottin, Alexander steer Gordon to victory
SYDNEY, Australia (CMC) — West Indies pacers Deandra Dottin and Kirbyina Alexander combined for six wickets and helped Gordon Club beat Sydney by 27 runs in the latest round of the Sydney Women’s First Grade competition.
Playing this past weekend at the Chatswood Oval, Gordon used three-wicket hauls by Barbadian Dottin and Trinidad and Tobago’s Alexander to defeat Sydney.
Coming off a brilliant all-round performance in the previous game against Universities, Dottin claimed three wickets and Alexander also snared three as Gordon reduced Sydney to 113 all out in 34.1 overs.
Gordon had scored 140 for nine after electing to bat.
Dottin, who smashed an attacking 88 and took five for 16 in a big win over Universities, scored only four in Gordon’s innings and Alexander went for a “duck”.
But Dottin hit back with the ball, claiming three for 16 off seven overs and Alexander snared three for 20 off seven as Sydney fell short in the run-chase.
Elsewhere, Jamaican all-rounder Shanel Daley and T&T’s Stacy-Ann King suffered losses with their teams.
Campbelltown-Camden beat Daley’s St George-Sutherland by eight wickets at Raby Oval although Daley returned tight figures of none for four off seven overs with three maidens.
Campbelltown-Camden made easy work of the target after St George were limited to 91 all out.
King’s Eastern Suburbs lost to Bankstown Sports by nine wickets at Grahame Thomas Oval.
Eastern scored 66 for seven and Bankstown replied with 69 for one, medium pacer King finishing with taking none for 18 off two overs.
