Pulse model Jeneil Williams was exactly what Karl Lagerfeld needed for the new instalment of the Pirelli calendar.

The chocolate hued, Jamaican model has added the right dose of island flavour and colour to the mix of the world’s top model talent who will appear in the 2011 version of the annual. The only black girl in the calendar, Jeneil is now en route to Russia to celebrate the publication’s launch.

Williams is the second Pulse star to appear in the sought-after calendar produced for the auto world with supermodels as the primary personalities. Back in 2004/5 Jaunel McKenzie broke new ground for Caribbean talent when she appeared in the iconic publication.

“I was really surprised when I was selected for the job. But, I was also really happy at the same time. I must admit that I was nervous about the shoot as well. It was fabulous in the end and Karl [Lagerfeld] was amazing,” said Jeneil when we caught up with her before her departure from Moscow via New York . Industry maverick , Largerfeld who designs lines for Chanel, Chloe, as well as his own, was the creative force and photographer for the calendar.

It has been a whirl wind past few months for Williams who recently returned from London after appearing on the Alexander MC Queen tribute show alongside another Pulse star, Sedene Blake. But as soon as she returned to New York for assignments there, she was called back across the Atlantic, this time to shoot another major magazine cover, her fifth for this year alone.

Jeneil’s work portfolio has been exceptional in 2010 and has elevated her to new heights in the business. Throughout the course of the year she has had many highlights. She has appeared twice in both the Italian and Russian editions Vogue, done cover duties for LOVE, i-D, the Wall Street Journal and French. She also had a stunning runway trail, walking for some of the best couturiers at the two major seasons of collections held in the big four fashion capitals.

And as her client list expands so too are the social requests. In the last couple of months she has been the toast of galas in Paris and New York among A-list actors, top fashion editors, recording stars and entertainment moguls including Janet Jackson, Usher, Anna Wintour and Oprah Winfrey.

Celebrity associations aside, these events are often to celebrate Jeneil’s work — as was the case with the LOVE gala in Paris — as well as to support charity causes (the Met Ball in New York).
