Unanswered request to reclaim bank charges
Dear Claudienne
I received a Scotia Group Jamaica dividend cheque from Price Waterhouse which was duly lodged to my account somewhere around August 16, 2010. This cheque was outstanding for payment from December 2009 as it was misplaced at the post office and went back to the auditing firm stamped “unclaimed”.
Having located the cheque, Price Waterhouse mailed it without checking that a stop payment order was placed on it.
This resulted in the cheque being dishonoured by the bank. I was subsequently issued a new cheque.
My problem is that the bank charge of $850 has not been addressed, neither the overdraft fee in the amount of $1250.00.
Several calls to Price Waterhouse have proven futile. I am being given the runaround and my written request for a refund has gone unanswered.
I have spoken to the secretary who said she was checking. It has been more than two weeks since she is checking.
I think this is very poor customer service.
Could you please check with them for me.

Dear TH
Tell Claudienne contacted Price Waterhouse Coopers and we see that the matter has been amicably resolved. We note that a director of Duke Corporation Limited, a member firm of Price WaterHouse Coopers, has now informed you by letter that a cheque for $2,100 was deposited to your chequing account at the Westgate branch of BNS in Montego Bay, as “reimbursement of bank and overdraft charges incurred resulting from the deposit of a dividend cheque on which a stop order had been placed.”
The company has also apologised to you for the delay in settling the matter.
Good luck
Dear Claudienne
I submitted a funeral grant application to the NIS office on Ripon Road sometime in June 2010 on behalf of a friend who resides in Canada. Her mother died in November 2009 In Canada. My friend sent the death certificate and all the required documents in order to apply for the funeral grant.
I have enquired on her behalf as to the state of the application on two occasions only to hear that the grant has not yet been processed.
It has been over six months since the application was made and I am not able to get a processing time for the claim. Local claims are processed within two to three weeks.
Could you please check to see when this claim will be processed.
LH
Dear LH
The NIS Ripon Road office has informed us that the funeral grant claim has been processed.
Tell Claudienne will follow up this matter with the Claims Department at the NIS Head office where the payment will be sent to your friend in the form of a bank draft.
Good luck.
