Shurwayne commands Mas Camp
Mas Camp trembled with excitement on Friday night as the soca prince T&T’s Shurwayne Winchester and his band Y.O.U. ignited a bacchanal flame that blazed for the duration of his hour and a half-long performance.
Filled with energy, sparks and melodious lyrics the Trinidad and Tobago artiste had the revellers at Mas Camp easily under his command as he delivered a string of hits including Murda, Dont Stop, Tempo, Cant Wait, Party Hard, Wutlis, Wine to the Side, Wine on a Town Ting and Paparazzi.
If one thought that Winchester and his team could only do soca music they were wrong. About 30 minutes into his performance he diverted into a string of hip hop and dancehall favourites much to the delight of the hundreds of ‘party animals’ who turned out to take in his performance.
All about his screaming female fans, Winchester later relieved himself of his close fitting white shirt showing off a perfect, sweat-washed washboard abs. If that wasn’t enough to drive the ladies insane and the men green with envy the singer made his way into the VIP and general section of the audience to get up close and personal.
With such steamy performance the people needed ‘wata’ and that Winchester gave them. Directing all the ‘stoosh’ individuals to go to the back the soca prince and his team gave out numerous bottles of water to the crowd and just minutes later everyone was soaking wet as they drenched each other with water. ‘Palancing was next and one may wonder how space would be achieved for due this popular dance considering the venue was tightly packed with revellers. But as soon as Shurwayne and his band gave the Palancing instructions, everyone was on their feet hopping from left to right and space was found.
Shruwayne’s performance ended near 2:00 am on Saturday morning. A high energy performance that could be easily described as the best yet to hit the Bacchanal Friday’s stage.
The party didn’t end there as DJ Kurt Riley continued what he started earlier Friday night which was giving wicked selections of mostly soca hits. It was almost 2:30 am when the patrons reluctantly make their way out of Mas Camp symbolising the end of the seventh staging of the Bacchanal 2011 Once Upon a Dynasty Bacchanal Fridays.
