Gov’t says IDB study signals Jamaica on right track to reducing crime
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of National Security says a study being conducted by the Inter-American Development Bank indicates that the Secure Jamaica Plan and the 5 Pillar National Crime Strategy (operational) are on the right track for creating a safer Jamaica.
In welcoming the study, entitled: Restoring Paradise in the Caribbean: Combating Violence with Numbers, the ministry noted that the IDB is an important partner for Jamaica.“We will continue to work along with them in order to create a safer Jamaica for all of our citizens and visitors to the island. In this year the IDB is working on a special project with regards to security enhancement to drive smarter technological options that will help our crime fighting initiatives,” a release from the ministry stated.They also encouraged members of the Jamaican society to familiarise themselves with the 5 Pillar National Crime Strategy by downloading from their website or requesting an e-copy at information@mns.gov.jm.“The Ministry of National Security wishes to reiterate to all Jamaica and our visitors that Citizen Security and Safety are paramount to this Administration as we work towards creating a more safer and prosperous Jamaica,” the release said.
