UPDATE: Coaster bus driver shot dead by man posing as passenger
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 33-year-old bus driver was shot dead while operating a Toyota Coaster bus on Slipe Road yesterday.
The Cross Roads police have identified the deceased as Amasha Mathias of Mount Ogle district in St Andrew.
According to a release from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), a man posing as passenger brandished a firearm about 2:00pm and opened gunfire at Mathias, hitting him several times.
The police were summoned and on their arrival, Mathias was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
CCU did not say whether or not other passengers were on the bus at the time. It is also uncertain if anyone else was injured during the shooting.
Investigations continue.
