JDF/JCF team seize firearm in Orange Villa
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A joint military/police patrol yesterday seized a Springfield XD9 sub compact 9mm pistol and fifteen rounds and arrested a man at Orange Villa in Kingston.
According to Civil Military Cooperation and Media Affairs Officer for the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), Major Basil Jarrett the seizure occurred last night when the JDF and Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) team established a cordon and search in the vicinity of the York Park Fire Station.
Reports are that a man was spotted in front of a shop adjacent to the fire station. The man was approached and the firearm found during a search by the police.
Jarrett said that currently JDF and JCF troops have been strategically deployed to key hot spots across the country in an attempt to find and remove the main perpetrators of the violence.
“Finds and seizures, even as small as this one, help to encourage and motivate the security forces as they continue to restrict the movements and actions of criminals,” Jarrett noted.
