Fisher says EOJ ready for any by-election
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ), in responding to an article in today’s edition of the Jamaica Observer, said it is prepared to conduct any by-election that is announced, regardless of the constituency.
The comment comes in response to assertions that no plans are in place for a by-election to replace Simpson Miller’s party colleague, former finance minister and Member of Parliament for St Andrew Southern Dr Omar Davies.

Director of Elections, Orrette Fisher said that there are no special plans for the constituency of St Andrew South Western as opposed to St Andrew Southern at this time as the EOJ has not been formally advised of the vacancies.
The EOJ said it will be ready to conduct a by-election in any constituency within the statutory time frame prescribed in the electoral laws, once it has been announced.
