The lawns of Devon House were abuzz Thursday evening when the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) commemorated its 70th anniversary with a special cocktail reception. The elegant gathering united key figures from the tourism industry, all raising a toast to seven decades of the JTB’s dedicated work in promoting Jamaica as the ultimate tourist destination.

The event was highlighted by the announcement that sprinting legend Usain Bolt had been named Jamaica’s global tourism ambassador. Underscoring Bolt’s extraordinary global influence, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett asserted that he was the perfect choice to take Brand Jamaica forward.

“We wanted a man who has done it and done it well — with speed and efficiency and has captured the imagination of the world and has made Jamaica a number one destination across the world!” Bartlett proclaimed.
