TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Brimming with confidence after being nominated as the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) candidate for Trelawny Southern in the September 3 General Election, Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert, who is seeking a sixth consecutive term, on Monday rallied supporters to stand united and refrain from tearing down one another.

The seasoned politician made a grand entrance into Albert Town Square, flanked by a sea of green-clad supporters including three JLP councillors, C Junior Gager, Desmond Smith, and Devon Davis.

“When I say a people in South Trelawny, I mean… whether you’re a Jamaica Labour Party supporter or a People’s National Party supporter. Because you see, in the Jamaica Labour Party, we choose Jamaica and Jamaicans are labourites, and they are PNP, and we have never built a campaign on tearing down others,” Dalrymple-Philibert declared.

“We have always sought to build each other up, and in South Trelawny, that is what we do, and the results speak for themselves,” she added.

Stressing that the people of Trelawny Southern are “family”, she assured that Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness can be confident of her victory once again.

“Having been duly nominated, I am absolutely confident that the Jamaica Labour Party, led by our Prime Minister, Andrew Michael Holness, will find South Trelawny, as he always does, in the winning column of the Jamaica Labour Party. I have no doubt about it!” Dalrymple-Philibert said.

Meanwhile, Paul Patmore is scheduled to be nominated at noon as the People’s National Party (PNP) representative, while Paul Cunningham is expected to be nominated as an Independent candidate.
