#Champs2026: KC’s Pitter stuns with Class 2 400m record

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Kingston College’s Jason Pitter clocked a stunning 45.76 seconds to smash Christopher Taylor’s boys Class 2 400m record as he brought the curtains down on an enthralling third day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletic Championships at the National Stadium.

Pitter, who had a previous best of 46.35 seconds, ran away from a quality field to win in commanding fashion, breaking the 46.33 seconds time Taylor had run in 2016.

In the Class 1 final, Foga Road High’s Paul Henry stormed home, passing three runners in the final 60 metres to win in a new lifetime best 46.21 seconds.

Junior Gallimore of Hydel High took the silver with 46.33 seconds and Jamaica College’s Makaelan Woods, who led at 360 metres, was third in 46.39 seconds.

Jamaica College took the gold and silver medals in the Class 3 final, Jayden White running 50.10 seconds ahead of Tariq Creary- 50.69 seconds while Lacovia High’s Western Champs gold medalist Darrian Francis was third in 50.73 seconds.
