STAKES SOAR

...Chelsea battle United, City host Arsenal in seismic Premier League weekend

Stamford Bridge will host a high-stakes Premier League “six-pointer” clash as the faltering Chelsea aim to arrest their recent slump against Champions League-chasing Man United. Then on Sunday, Manchester City and Arsenal collide in what is being described as the title decider at the Etihad Stadium.

Event # 1 – EPL – Chelsea vs Man United – 2:00 PM

Separated by just seven points, with six matches to go in the season, Chelsea will host Manchester United, desperate to avoid a fifth-consecutive defeat, while Manchester United arrives at Stamford Bridge seeking redemption, following a shock home defeat to Chelsea in the reverse fixture. Indeed, Chelsea approaches this high-stake clash amid a frustrating run of form that has seen them losing five of their last six matches in all competitions, and a period that has highlighted their lack of attacking sharpness and a concerning failure to score in their last three matches. Indeed, their latest setback, a 3-0 hammering to title-chasing Manchester City last weekend.

Manchester United makes the trip to Chelsea aiming for an immediate response after a week that saw their tight grip on third place loosen a bit, following an unexpected 2-1 home defeat to relegation-threatened Leeds United last weekend. Prior to that defeat, United had built up an impressive run of form, unbeaten in 11 matches. However, back-to-back slip ups have disrupted their momentum and left them vulnerable, with Aston Villa breathing down their necks for the third spot. With that said, Manchester United is aware that they have not won a league game at Stamford Bridge since February 2020, and they will be aiming to buck that trend and return to winning ways, while a third-consecutive defeat could significantly complicate their push for a top-five finish.

Key Stats

● Chelsea has won just one of their last six overall matches and have failed to score in their last three matches.

●Man United saw four of their last seven away matches end in draws but they have scored at least one goal in each of their last 20 Premier League games.

●Both sides – Chelsea has failed to score and are winless in their last three league matches, while Manchester United has won just one of their last four league matches.

The betting Tip. Draw.

Event # EPL – Man City vs Arsenal – 10:30 AM

This is what it has come down to, second against first, Manchester City versus Arsenal. Title race decider, Man City must win, Arsenal cannot afford to lose, a draw favours Arsenal as they would maintain a sizable lead over Man City. Indeed, When Arsenal arrives at the Etihad on Sunday, there’s no longer a comfortable run-in for City, it’s a huge fight and for City, it’s simple, win or risk falling out of the title race for good this season. With that said, Manchester City are building momentum again, they defeated Arsenal in the EFL Cup final a few weeks and star forward Erling Haaland has rediscovered his scoring touch, at the time of the season when City normally explodes into life. Amazingly, Man City has won 28 of their 31 Premier League matches played in April (D2 L1).

The title race has shifted again after Arsenal suffered a shock defeat at home to Bournemouth last weekend and reopened the door for Manchester City to walk through, and now this clash at the Etihad feels like the moment that could define their season. Indeed, the gap has been cut, the pressure has increased, and suddenly the narrative has changed. However, Arsenal is aware that, unlike Man City, the equation is somewhat different for them — they don’t have to win, they absolutely cannot afford to lose as a defeat would hand the momentum straight back to City.

Key Stats

• Man City has won their last three matches in commanding fashion, beating Arsenal 2-0 in the EFL Cup final, hammering Liverpool 4-0 and then dismantling Chelsea 3-0 ahead of this vital clash.

• Arsenal has lost three of their last four overall matches in all competitions.

• Both sides – Man City has won eight of their last 10 home matches and have won three matches in a row, while Arsenal are winless in three of their last four matches.

The betting Tip. Man City win.
