Must-win for Brazil as they take on Haiti with group survival on the line

Must-win for Brazil as they take on Haiti with group survival on the line

Brazil will be aiming to secure their first win at the 2026 World Cup when they take on minnows Haiti today, then tomorrow, Saturday, June 20, Germany will look to continue their impressive start to the tournament having smashed Curacao 7-1 in their opening match.

Event # 1 – World Cup – Brazil vs Haiti – 7:30 PM

Brazil will be aiming to kick-start their 2026 World Cup campaign when they face Haiti in their second group match, having drawn their opening game against Morocco, as they sit third in the group, level on points with Morocco. Indeed, Brazil has won the World Cup on five previous occasions but have not lifted the coveted trophy since 2002, and they have failed to progress past the quarterfinals since 2014. What’s at stake for the mighty Brazilians – they must get a positive result against the lowest ranked team in the group to keep pace with leaders Scotland and the Omen’s appears to be in their favour as they are unbeaten against Haiti in their last three meetings. However, of concern, is that the Brazilians have failed to keep a single clean sheet in 2026.

Haiti, on the other hand, gave a good account of themselves in their opening match, eventually falling to a 1-0 defeat. Indeed, Haiti would be eliminated from the World Cup if they lose to Brazil and Morocco beat Scotland, as those results would make it impossible for them to finish third in the group. The Haitians previously played in the World Cup in 1974, losing all three of their matches, so even a point in this edition would see history being made by Haiti.

Key Stats

•Brazil – Nine of Brazil’s last 13 matches have produced less than four goals, with their last seven World Cup group stage matches producing less than three goals.

•Haiti – Eight of Haiti’s last nine matches have produced less than four goals.

• Both sides – In the previous three meetings against each other, Brazil defeated Haiti 4-0 and 6-0 in friendly internationals and 7-1 at the 2016 Copa America.

The betting tip: Brazil win.

Event #2 World Cup – Germany vs Ivory Coast – 3 :00 PM

The second of group E fixtures at the FIFA 2026 World Cup kicks off with an intriguing clash between two nations that opened their campaigns with victories. Germany produced the most dominant performances of the entire first round, dismantling minnows Curacao 7-1, while Ivory Coast had a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ecuador, to enhance their chances of a top three group finish. Indeed, Germany could not have asked for a better start to the tournament and will be looking to build on the momentum generated from that explosive opening display. Germany enters this vital clash in excellent form having won their last five overall matches, beating Curacao 7-1, the USA 2-1, Finland 4-0, Ghana 2-1 and Switzerland 4-3, underlining how dangerous they are going forward, having scored 19 goals during this run.

Ivory Coast enters this clash in excellent form after extending their winning streak with the 1-0 win over Ecuador in their opening World Cup match. It wasn’t a flashy performance, but it was discipline and organised, whichhas become the hallmark of Ivory Coast play recently. Indeed, Ivory Coast has now won five straight matches, beating Ecuador 1-0, France 2-1, Scotland 1-0 and South Korea 4-0. The most impressive aspect of the Ivory Coast recently is their consistency in front of goal, as they have scored in eleven consecutive matches; a run that will have confidence high in the camp ahead of their monumental clash against Germany.

Key Stats

•Germany has scored in their last ten matches in all competitions but have conceded in four of their last five matches.

•Ivory Coast – Similarly to Germany, Ivory Coast has scored in their last ten matches in all competitions.

•Both sides – Ivory Coast has won eight and drawn one of their last ten matches, while Germany ended 2025 with five straight wins, and have gone unbeaten in 2026 so far.

The betting tip:Germany wins.
