Tessanne rocks Sumfest

Saturday, July 21, 2012 | 4:27 AM

Reggae singer Tessanne Chin had the thousands present at the 20th staging of Reggae Sumfest held at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay in a musical trance throughout her performance earlier tonight.

The Jamaican songbird had the audience's undivided attention as she sang the lyrics to songs like "The Reason", a cover version of the 2003 hit.

"Sumfest are you ready to rock and party tonight as we celebrate a huge milestone in our country's history? There are special things in our past that can propel us to move forward so it's good to visit the past at times" she said before taking the Reggae Sumfest crowd down memory lane.

She had almost everyone dancing to the ska and rocksteady beat as she sang the words to the rocksteady song "Hanging On To Strings".

She also performed other songs like Messenger and Hideaway.

In addition to international act Trey Songz, the music festival will see performances from some of reggae's veterans including Derrick Harriot, Uroy, John Holt and The Mighty Diamonds
