American tourists rescued after boat sinks
CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC) – Tourism officials said that four people, including two American nationals, had been rescued after their pleasure boat sank in rough seas off the island’s north coast on Sunday.
They said a major rescue operation involving personnel from neighbouring French island of Martinique had located them at Dauphin beach, north of here, on Monday.
Tourism Minister Lorne Theophilius described the rescue as a miracle.
The authorities said the four — Daniel and Kate Souki, and locals, Griffith Joseph and Kim Cooper — “are in a stable condition” at a medical institution.
