Benny White supporters threaten to support JLP
PORTLAND, Jamaica – Supporters of the ruling People’s National Party turned out to support former Port Antonio Mayor Benny White, who was asked to step down in a vote of no confidence Thursday morning.
The supporters gathered outside the Portland parish council’s office as soon as the news spread that the motion had been carried through.
The placards read: “No Benny White, No Vote”; “No Benny White, No Council, No Vote”; No Benny White, No Vote, PNP we are going to go green if we don’t get Benny White”; and “Mayor Benny White or no vote, Portia we need to hear from you, we don’t want Wayne McKenzie, Benny straight”, among others.
The supporters shouted: “A Benny we want, and if we nuh get Benny, East Portland gone green. We nuh want no bias man, a Benny we want, without Benny East Portland gone green”. Green is the colour used to represent the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party.
