Bogle to the world

Talk Back

Jamaica Observer Online readers continue to comment on the saga involving a Jamaican-born man, Lloyd Bogle, who spent 54 years in Britain, but was refused entry after he returned to Jamaica for the first time since he left his homeland.

Bogle, 64, was handed a British visa on Friday, after his case became public. He is due to return to Britain soon.

Here are some of the comments:

Mlyffe – No kidding. He’s been on the rock since October and a few days in the Observer and zoops him gone! Looking forward to a follow up story with Mr Bogle smiling with his UK passport in hand.

RUNTHINGS – A Jah works. I know he learn a lot from this. Nuff blessings to the lady who shelter him fe the couple of months. May God go with him and him remember fe send her a little something fe the JPS and Water bills when him settle down and get back him hair colour.

Juney – I think he probably got a lot of that grey hairs not knowing what was gonna happen. I can just imagine how he felt, because if that happen to me I would go crazy… he was in a very stressful situation. I know it’s his mistake but I felt for him like he was family. I am similar to him being that he has no one in JA.

Georgina Grant – Happy that he is coming back home

Err gag – Out and Bad,… Mr Bogle

Jah_make_can – Good move. Next time you pay attention to details, OK Lloyd?

Sondon roastegg – And the people who were also born before independence and are still alive in Jamaica are also British subjects and should not be subject to visa requirements should they wish to go to England. The wool was pulled over our eyes. As for Mr Bogle, it now appears the paperwork is finished, and the job is done!!

Trevel – Good news. I hope he sorts out a British passport for himself when he gets back. Well done to all involved.

Err gag – Bwoy…what would we do without the Observer?

Mooney65 – The Observer sure has a knack of publishing the eye popping stories and they get the attention worldwide.

Money65 – Haha. I don’t think he will ever travel again!

Chris  – Thank You Jesus!!!! And thank you Observer. Jamaicans are still a caring people….oh and thank you British High Commission …..(oh time is running out and they are telling me to finish….thanks to anyone I left out!)

Tamara Miller – That’s just so right. Man have been paying taxes for years, buy house, work and grew upstanding children in the country. At least he should be considered more a British than a Jamaican. He left here at age seven.

Mccormacklindel – The people’s paper to the rescue, thanks Observer and all the best to Mr Bogle.

Marshay Pitter – All thanks again to the Observer for posting and tracking this story, kudos again Observer!!!

Mars – Good stuff. Make sure you come back soon. You stayed away too long.

Mlyffe – Yeah dem fly di gate! Bon voyage Mr Bogle, God go with you.

Sir Bogle, I wish you a safe journey and I wrote you a departure song.

Mr Bogle waan guh home…

Call di embassy pan di phone

Mr Bogle nuh waan tan ya

Call di embassy fi get visa

From him eye deh mi knee

Im neva si inside a embassy

Him madda tek him up when him small

Immigration seh a desuh him fi tan

Mr Bogle frighten and start fret

Mannas and respect due to di Observa

Mine mi call “Gully Bop” pon yu. Lol

Tone Bag – So what dance you do to this, the Bogle?!

Shellybelly – mi nah lie, mlyffe u bad, we here in Chicago USA, we love it!!!!

Juney – I am dying in New York, I lovvvve it…

Feistyjamaican – Glad to hear Mr Bogle got his visa to enter the UK.

I am sure he was now advised to register as a British citizen before he can apply for a passport (with right of abode) to travel again. No matter when Mr Bogle went to the UK, if he did not register to be naturalised as a British citizen, he cannot apply for a British passport. The British Immigration laws have been changed constantly over the years. So anyone not born in the UK, no matter how long they have been there should get themselves sorted out before leaving the UK. Anyone in the UK like Mr Bogle should get immigration advice no matter when they arrived in the UK, or how long they lived there. Mr Bogle’s plight is a WAKE UP CALL to all those in the same position in the UK. (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales).

Thanks Observer. Keep up the good work.

Ttonybicicleta – It ‘bogles’ di mind.

guest – Say wah dat…breddah!!?:)

A you a spit fiyah?

You nevah tell me, but mi hear it pon di wiyah.

You a send yuh debut to the man a Seaview!?

And him get help from Jamdung, and visa from UK crew.

Him don’t need fi lingah and you don’t need to fuss.

‘Cause him gone a England, and you juss buss!

Guest – (There’s my song mlyffe, you like it?:)

It’s a bit short, and di Patwa need work.

But if me keep trying, we can still gwaan twerk…).

Guest – Where are my ‘big ups’? I think this is a very good song. It is certainly better than Gully Bop, ’cause it look like him done flop.

Jenny Penny – Happy to hear they granted him a visa. Hope he applies for citizenship upon his return

Matlock2 – Well done Observer. But what a lucky man! I hope he learns from it and start to make checks on what he needs to do to become a citizen. Well, all the best sir.

Adrian – Great news

Pieter Crush – God, is the Observer here and it is all good.

Mooney65 – Well most people expected this outcome but he has to be grateful to whoever contacted the Observer. This story was one for the ages. I was still talking about it at work yesterday.

Gene – People Power At Work! Take a bow Observer Online. Everyone who commented, contributed to the result. Very good. Happy for Lloyd Bogle and family members.

Olive Cowell – Thanks to the online Observer! Reading it live from the UK and it is an eye-opener to all my fellow Jamaican. Showed it to my kids and friends! Big disgrace to the UK High Commission. Mr Bogle have all the power in his hand when he return! Good luck and safe travel home. Hope to see him on BBC.

Mars – I criticise the paper, Jamaica Observer at times, but kudos for you have done your public duty.

Brooklyn_man  – Thanks Observer; Congratulations Mr Bogle. Now we want to hear what will happen to the High Commission interviewer who threw his story out the window without follow up.

Alec Singh – Thanks Observer for doing an excellent job in highlighting this case. I hope that this story will end up helping others in a similar situation.

Gm – God is good

Rory Purcell – Thank GOD.

Richie RasEmpress –  Power of the media….

The Fire Fox – OK Lloydie it was a tough lesson to learn, hoping that others will learn from it also. You have got a long story to tell back at the pub when you return! “Hey” Lloydie, ya got anything to say about dem girls in Jamaica

Richie – Big up to the Observer…..My paper dat!!

Tanya Edwards – Thank God, for hearing everyone’s prayers…sir have a safe flight home.

King majesty – Boss ! ! ! How come you live a England all them years and you no come a you yard until now ?? Glad it work out still, anyway come back again you hear. The rest of unuh who a do di the same ting take heed.

Gego  – Congrats to you Observer for publicising this story. It went a long way in his favour.

SHOCKER – Big up to the Observer for highlighting this story.

onroad – Happy for you Mr Bogle. Hope the extended stay in Jamaica was somewhat memorable after all.

Yvonne – God is Great!!!

British Kevin – What started off as hell week ended with enjoy & happiness. Lesson to all.

Hugh – I will never criticize the Observer again after this… respect tun up.

21_18_18_25 – I hear you Hugh… Lol; and I concur!  The Jamaica Observer did an excellent and superb job of giving his issue the necessary publicity to allow for the attention and effort needed to correct his predicament — expeditiously. I am really happy for this man … Who is a “typical example” of the saying: “It is never too old to learn”.

Dully – I feel good for him but let this be a lesson to all those who have ears to hear.

Noshel – Very good. Now, if I was like him as he step off the plane, in Britain, he should start his paperwork to obtain his British Citizenship, so this will never happen to him again!..

Marsha Simms Robinson – Praise God, Praise God, Praise God his ordeal is OVER!!! BLESSINGS to everyone who made this possible. There is a welcome party in the making… I’m sure!
