Caricom Council holds 39th meeting in Guyana
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — The Caribbean Community (Caricom) Council, the second highest organ of the 15-member grouping, will hold its first meeting for the year on Monday.
The Guyana-based Caricom Secretariat said that the council, comprising ministers responsible for Caricom Affairs, will be addressed by Carl Greenidge, the vice-president and minister of foreign affairs, Guyana and the Caricom Secretary General Irwin LaRocque.
It said the two-day meeting will also receive a presentation on the Caricom Results Based Management System as well as signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Caricom Secretariat and UN Women.
The council has primary responsibility for the development of community strategic planning and coordination in the areas of economic integration, functional cooperation and external relations in accordance with the policy directions established by the Caricom leaders.
