Child killed in drive-by shooting in Belize
BELMOPAN, Belize (CMC) — Law enforcement officials are searching for the gunmen who shot and killed a child during a drive-by shooting here late Friday.
Superintendent Alejandro Cowo told reporters that two people had been shot during the incident, including the unidentified child.
“We found six expended shells and a vehicle that was parked on the road was also damaged,” he said.
Media reports said that the minor was in the company of an adult male, who was also shot and injured and that several shots had been fired in their direction.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dezerie Phillips, has confirmed that the child succumbed to gunshot injuries.
The police have not given any motive for the killing.
