Cop killed at school fair in St Vincent
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC) – Police say an 18-year-old youth is assisting their investigations into the death of a police officer, who was reportedly stabbed while on duty at a fair at a school.
Commissioner of Police Michael Charles confirmed the incident, but did not disclose the name of the officer.
Media reports said that the unidentified officer was stabbed while on duty at the Belmont Primary School by a man who had refused to pay the fee to enter the fair.
But the police chief said he is not in a position to comment on the incident since he is awaiting the full report.
The police officer’s death brings to four the number of homicides in St Vincent and the Grenadines in just over a week.
Over the last 10 days, three men were shot and killed by unknown assailants in separate incidents.
Monday’s killing brings the homicide count in St Vincent and the Grenadines this year to 11.
