Correctional officers to face court after prisoners escape
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that two correctional officers be charged in relation to the April, 27, 2014 case in which two prisoners escaped from the Horizon Remand Centre in Kingston.
They are 34-year-old Jason Parchment and 31-year-old Paul Clarke.
They are to appear in the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, November 17, to answer to charges of negligently permitting prisoners to escape.
Eighteen-year-old Casheem Peart, otherwise called ‘Nine Star’, of Church Lane district, St Thomas, and 22-year-old Omar Creary of August Town, Kingston 6, escaped from the facility about 11:25 am on the mentioned day by allegedly cutting through a window.
Peart is charged with murder while Creary was serving a life sentence.
The men are still on the run.
