Couple accused of beating neighbour over illegal cable wire
Two persons have found themselves in trouble with the law for reportedly assaulting their neighbour during a dispute over an illegal cable wire.
Nordia Stone and Dwayne Grant, who both live together in Seaview Gardens, St Andrew, are facing a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.
On Wednesday when they appeared in court, the complainant told the court that on the day of the incident she was inside her home when the cable cord got caught in her curtain and she called her friend, who lived on the same premises, about it.
But she said, Stone came out of her house and started an argument.
During the dispute, she said Stone hit her in the head with a bottle and her boyfriend hit her on her leg.
Stone, for her part, said the fight occurred after the complainant and her mother attacked her.
“There was a fight … she and her mother gang me,” she said, while claiming that the mother was the instigator.
“Her mother was there, a she a push the fire, she (the complainant) neva waa fight. Is her mother,” Stone added.
Grant, however, denied hitting the complainant.
“I did not lick har,” he said.
He told the court that the argument was over an illegal cable wire that runs through the villa.
According to him, on the day of the incident he was getting ready to leave for downtown, Kingston, when his girlfriend and the complainant got into an argument. But he said it never got physical.
The matter was subsequently scheduled for another mention date, as the medical report was outstanding.
The couple’s bail was extended for them to return on July 4.
