Court date for ministers in sex scandal to be known today
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Former Moravian Church President Dr Paul Gardner and his deputy Jermaine Gibson, who were arrested yesterday on carnal abuse charges, should know today when they will be facing the court.
Lambert Johnson, one of the attorneys in the case, told OBSERVER ONLINE that that decision should be available “sometime this afternoon.”
It is expected that a court date will be set for next week for them to appear in the Manchester Parish Court.
The men were granted bail yesterday.
Johnson said that later today he should also be able to provide information on the bail amount and conditions of bail for Gardner and Gibson.
The arrest and charge of the men follows a sex scandal involving Reverend Rupert Clarke, a pastor of the Nazareth Moravian Church in Manchester, who is now before the court because of allegations that he was caught “in a compromising position” with a minor in St Elizabeth.
The charges against Gardner and Gibson reportedly stem from incidents that allegedly occurred years ago.
