Entertainment minister saddened by passing of Jimmy Riley
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Minister of Culture, Gender Affairs, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia “Babsy” Grange, says she was deeply saddened by the news that veteran Jamaican singer, Jimmy Riley, died today in New York.
Grange said that her long association with Riley and their close professional relationship made the news extremely disturbing and depressing.
She said that she was sure that the entire entertainment community is grief-stricken with the news.
Riley died earlier today in New York, United States, at the age of 61 after a long battle with cancer.
Grange has also expressed her condolences to the family and friends of Jimmy Riley, and has urged them not to lose focus on the rich musical legacy which proudly bears his name.
