Floyd Green set to give up G2K presidency
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) South West St Elizabeth caretaker Floyd Green is set to give up the position of president of G2K.
Generation 2000 (G2K) is the young professional affiliate of the JLP.
Green signalled his intention to give up the job of G2k president to the executive of the organisation, ONLINE OBSERVER sources say.
According to the sources, Green this week told the JLP’s Management and Central Committee that he does not intend to seek re-election as president.
Green, along with JLP Leader Andrew Holness, former Agriculture Minister, Dr Christopher Tufton and several G2K past presidents are down to address the youth organisation’s annual conference on the Mona Campus of the UWI today.
Contacted by the OBSERVER ONLINE yesterday, Green neither denied nor confirmed if he was seeking re-election but said that this reporter should attend the meeting. Asked if he will address the meeting on the issue, Green said all he could say was that the Observer should attend the meeting.
It’s further understood that businessman and G2K Vice President Matthew Samuda is the front runner to be the next president of G2K.
