ST MARY, Jamaica — Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange has expressed outrage at the murder of yet another woman who was reported missing prior to her body being found.

The latest victim, 46-year-old Erroline Chin of Heywood Hall in St Mary, had been reported missing since Thursday and her body found in bushes yesterday.

According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, residents summoned the police about 9:30 am when they stumbled on Chin’s body.

In expressing condolences to the woman’s family, Grange said: “These acts of brutality against our women and girls must stop. They are unacceptable and we must do all we can to ensure that the perpetrators are caught and punished under the law”.

CCU was unable to state the possible cause of Chin’s death but said a post mortem was to be conducted.

The minister, in her statement, also appealed for people with information about the murder or any other crime to report it to the police.

“Let’s be clear about it: this evil will flourish if good men and women do and say nothing. It is time to take a stand against violence. No more cover up. Break the silence,” Grange urged.
