JCF appoints new divisional head to tackle Clarendon crime
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Clarendon Police Division will be headed by a new commander as the Jamaica Constabulary Force seeks to tackle the recent upsurge in violence in the parish.
The Police High Command today announced that, effective tomorrow, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Fitz Bailey will be assigned commander for the division.
SSP Bailey, who was the former commander of the St Andrew Central Division and Area 4 Headquarters, has been mandated to organize operational activities geared at curtailing the recent upsurge of violence in the parish of Clarendon and to institute programmes aimed at boosting the morale of the men and women of the division. SSP Bailey will be supported by an additional senior officer who will be shortly transferred to the parish.
Meanwhile, on September 7 the High Command also assigned Senior Superintendent of Police Millicent Sproul-Thomas to take command of the St Andrew Central Division and Superintendent of Police Vendolyn Cameron-Powell to take command of Area 3 with responsibility for the parish of Manchester, making her the latest of the six female Divisional Commanders of the JCF.
The other women Divisional Commanders are Superintendents: Jacqueline Green of St Andrew North, Stephanie Lindsay of St Mary, Oberlyn Smith of Portland and Charmaine Shand of St Thomas.
The High Command also expressed its gratitude to outgoing Divisional Commanders SSP Maurice Robinson and SP Melvin Brown of Clarendon and Manchester respectively for their sterling service.
