JLP lists candidates

The move comes a week after the governing People’s National Party (PNP) published its full slate of candidates in both newspapers.
Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is expected to announce the date for the country’s 17th general election later today at a mass rally set for St Andrew’s capital.
Among the JLP’s 63 candidates is wife of leader Andrew Holness, Juliet, who will contest the St Andrew East Rural seat. Mrs Holness is up against PNP senator Imani Duncan-Price, daughter of veteran politician D K Duncan.

Also listed are Olympian Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn, who will go up against the PNP’s Paul Buchanan in St Andrew West Rural; Floyed Green, who is touted to unseat the PNP’s Hugh Buchanan in St Elizabeth South West; and Dr Christopher Tufton, who lost to Buchanan in 2011, but will now contest the St Catherine West Central seat after Councillor for the Point Hill Division Devon Wint was asked to step aside by the party.Read: Holness tells Councillor Devon Wint to resign
The PNP, which commands the majority in the House of Representatives, has 42 seats to the JLP’s 21.
