Man freed in love-triangle killing
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A man charged with murder in a killing that is believed to have stemmed from a love triangle, has been freed in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court.
Jevoughn Box was freed after Magistrate Tara Reid-Carr made a No-Order following an application by attorney Able-Don Foote of the law firm Knight, Junor & Samuels.
Box and Shawn Henry had at some point shared a relationship with a woman who is also the sole witness in the case.
Both men got into a confrontation on or around September 19, which lead to Henry’s throat being slashed.
Henry had reportedly pulled a knife from his waistband and attempted to attack the accused. Box was kicked to the floor and the knife fell from Henry’s hand. The accused man reportedly took up the knife and slashed Henry’s throat while trying to ward him off.
Box ran and hid himself in bushes before surrendering to the police.
The statement of the eyewitness reportedly supported the defence’s position that Box had acted in self defence.
