Miller bags 6-46 as Scorpions restrict Jaguars to 189

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A six-wicket haul by left-arm finger spinner Nikita Miller assisted Jamaica Scorpions in restricting Guyana Jaguars to 189 all out on the stroke of the tea interval on day one of the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) four-day match at Sabina Park.

The Jaguars, asked to take first strike by the Scorpions, were well set at 78-1, but lost three quick wickets just before lunch at 80-4, before being bowled out on the resumption.

Miller ended with 6-46 and off-spinner John Campbell bagged 3-45, while pacer Marquino Mindley ended with 1-22.

In-form opener Assad Fudadin top scored with 47, supported by Vishal Singh, 45, with the next best score being 18 by Gudakesk Motie-Kanhai.

Both teams have made changes to their squads, which secured victories in round four.

The Scorpions have brought in debutant all-rounder Ravmon Powell and Devon Thomas in place of the out of form Kirk Edwards and David Bernard Jr who is reported to have suffered an injury.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars brought in young Tajnarine Chanderpaul in place of Shimron Hetmyer who is away on West Indies Under-19 duties, while Steven Jacobs replaces Shivnarine Chanderpaul out with injury and Keon Joseph replaces fellow pacer Ronsford Beaton in the bowling attack.

The Jaguars currently lead the standings with 70 points, 20 ahead of the Scorpions on 50.
