KINGSTON, Jamaica – Michelle Thomas, Miss Kingston and St Andrew Festival Queen and 2nd Runner Up in the National Festival Queen Competition visited Vauxhall High School on Tuesday to encourage students in the eighth grade. This was one of her initiatives- to empower students within her parish.

Thomas advised the students of the importance of choosing career paths that will make them employable in the long run.

She stressed the need for students to participate in co-curricular activities as this she said will help boost self confidence and leadership skills which are essential character traits for the working world.

The students were very engaged when she highlighted tips on how to deal with peer pressure and stress management. She employed the use of examples from her own personal life growing up as a past student of the St Andrew High School, to underscore her arguments.

She eloquently noted to the students that “education is the key to drive this nation to sustainable development, you are the holders of that key, please make use of it.”
