NFPB marks World AIDS Day with road march
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Family Planning Board (NFPB) in collaboration with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the AIDS Health Foundation will today commemorate World AIDS Day with a road march and free health fair.
The road march is expected to begin at 2:00 pm from Carib 5 in Cross Roads, St Andrew, and will end at St William Grant Park in downtown Kingston, where the health fair would have been under way from 8:00 am.
The NFPB is urging Jamaicans to join the fight against HIV/AIDS while taking advantage of the services, such as testing for a number of illnesses including HIV and hypertension, that will be provided at the health fair.
Today’s activities will also include a World AIDS Day concert in the park, set to kick off at 3:00 pm and featuring Devin Di Dakta and Tifa.
Minister of Health Dr Christopher Tufton as well as other officials are expected to be in attendance, according to the NFPB.
World AIDS Day is commemorated on December 1 each year.
