NHT to break ground for residential lots in St Catherine
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness will on Tuesday break ground in Kitson Town, St Catherine for the development of residential lots.
According to the communications department of the National Housing Trust (NHT), the development is part of 10,000 housing solutions the NHT plans to complete over a three-year period.
The trust says it plans to complete 1,000 of these solutions in St Catherine.
The Government had earlier this year said that under its medium-term housing programme, nearly 12,000 new housing solutions (units and serviced lots) will be developed and financed by the fiscal year 2020/21.
These solutions will include a mix of houses and residential lots in 42 developments in 11 parishes.
The Government said the trust plans to spend $29.5 billion on housing activities, which is expected to result in commencement of 6,574 solutions over the medium-term period, and 2,159 next fiscal year.
