New PNPYO president ratified
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Connoly Black has been ratified as the acting president the People’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO).
Black, a final year law student at the Law Faculty of the University of the West Indies, Mona, was voted in at the organisation’s National Council on Saturday.
She had previously served as vice president, leaving that post now vacant.
Former president Andrae Blair was forced to leave the post after calling for the resignation of PNP President Portia Simpson-Miller in the wake of the party’s defeat in the general elections.
The PNPYO says that Black has been an active member of the PNPYO and was previously assigned with responsibilities for social outreach and is the youth Opposition spokesperson on tourism and sports.
Her tenure will end in July when a new president is expected to be elected.
