New tropical depression could become tropical storm Tuesday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says at 4:00 pm, Monday, the centre of Tropical Depression Eleven was located near Latitude 27.5 degrees north and Longitude 70.2 degrees west or about 745 km southwest of Bermuda.
The depression is moving toward the west near 9 km/h, and a turn toward the west-northwest is expected over the next day or two.
Maximum sustained winds remain near 55 km/h with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected overnight, but the depression could become a tropical storm on Tuesday.
The Met Service said Tropical Depression Eleven is not a threat to Jamaica.
