Portland Art Gallery hosts fair today
PORTLAND, Jamaica — The Portland Art Gallery is today hosting an exhibition titled ‘The finest art with a touch of magic’ at Cajanas Café in the Port Antonio square.
The art fair is scheduled to run from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Mark Bell, who is spearheading the exhibition, told OBSERVER ONLINE that the aim of the event is to unearth and expose new talent from the parish.
“This is to expose new artists in Portland, all the artists are from Portland … and this is a way to expose them,” said Bell.
He added that this, a first for Portland, is expected to become an annual affair.
Among the artists who will have exhibits, along with Bell are Hopeton Cargill, Margerite Gauron, Oneil Lewis, Phillip Henry, Shawn Reid, Shania Campbell (JCDC 2014 medallist) photographer Kenton Wilson, ceramist Wazari Johnson, basket weaver Evrard White and graphic designer Khalid Johnson.
