Portland records first murder
PORTLAND, Jamaica — Portland recorded its first murder early Thursday morning when Deon Barrett, a 44-year-old labourer of Red Hassle Road in Port Antonio, was shot dead at a bar in the area.
Police reports are that four men were drinking at a bar in Bryan’s Bay, Port Antonio when they left the bar about 2:00am and went to their car to leave. They were approached by two masked gunmen and ordered to return to the bar.
The men returned but Barrett ran and was shot in the head and stomach. He was reported dead on arrival of the Port Antonio Hospital.
The survivors were not able to identify the men.
The Port Antonio Police is investigating.
