Power failure leaves several communities without water
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The National Water Commission in a press release Monday advised that customers in sections of the Corporate Area, Clarendon, Portland, and St Thomas are without their regular water supply as a result of power failure at some facilities.
Affected areas and facilities include: Barnett Wood Pumping Station, Coopers Hill, Castle James, Padmore, Swain Spring, Maverly Mountain, Burnt Side, Burnt Side Valley, and upper sections of Sterling Castle.In Clarendon, the affected areas include: Rhymesbury, pumping station in Clarendon Park, St Toolies, Land Settlement and Toll Gate.While in Portland, Grant Level Pumping Station, Grants Level, Passley Garden, Snow Hill, Dragon Bay, Berridale, Fellowship, Stanton, New Road, Boundbroook, Norwich, Tan Hope, Prospect District , and Drapers are the affected areas.Ward River Pumping Station – St Thomas Ward River, Needham Pen and environs are also without water in St Thomas.
Meanwhile, the NWC advised customers in sections of St Catherine who are served by the Spring Village Pumping Station, that they will experience a disruption in service on Tuesday, March 24 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Tomorrow’s disruption is due to a scheduled Jamaica Public Service Company outage. The areas to be affected include: Bushy Park, Spring Village, Island Farm, Nightingale Groove, Five Acres, Round Wood, High House, Lloyd’s Pen, Rock Stone, and Gutters.
The NWC therefore asked customers to store water for use during the period of disruption.
