Residents block roadway as sewage overflows in Portmore
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – There is a massive traffic pile-up on the Christian Pen main road in Portmore, St Catherine.
Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that a group of residents have blocked the roadway because of a sewage overflow.
The angry residents have vowed that the blockade will not be cleared until the matter is addressed.
The health centre in the area has been temporarily closed as a result.
“Enough is enough! For years we suffering from this problem, too often we are forced to close down our businesses and our homes because of this problem,” said one of the residents who used old debris to block the roadway.
Police are now at the location trying to clear the roadway.
