Roads prepared for patching to be repaired within 48 hours
KINGSTON, Jamaica – State Minister for Works Everald Warmington says the Government is moving to have roads prepared for patching repaired within 48 hours.
Warmington said in his Sectoral Presentation yesterday that too often roads are cut and prepared for patching, but take weeks to be completed. He also said his ministry will ensure that “small holes don’t become craters because of slow or no response”.
The state minister argued that too often “there are small things, such as a pothole or a broken manhole cover that goes unattended for an inordinately long time, resulting in accidents or serious cost implications for Government”.
Additionally, Warmington said once the required road work is completed, contracting partners will be paid within two weeks of the bill being given final approval. This is to take effect immediately.
