St Vincent man killed after being freed on murder charge
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC) — A 52-year-old man was shot dead Sunday night, two weeks after he was freed on a murder charge.
St Vincent police say that Malcolm Pollin was shot by unknown assailants and residents reported they heard several gunshots and found the body of the deceased on a public road.
The murder brings to three, the number of people killed in St Vincent so far this year.
Pollin was released from police custody on February 27 when the prosecution told the Serious Offences Court at the beginning of a preliminary inquiry that it was not proceeding against him and Mark Weekes, 27, on a murder charge.
The two were among a group of men charged with the July 25, 2016 murder of Kamau Jones in Vermont.
Jones, who is originally from Union Island, died after being chopped and shot.
Among the people who are still subjects of a preliminary inquiry into Jones’ death are Pollin’s 34-year-old son, Brydon Joseph, Courtney Joseph, 28, and Shemei Joseph, 25.
