Tax office cashier charged in theft of motor vehicle documents
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A cashier from the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) Montego Bay office has been arrested and slapped with 30 charges under the Larceny and Corruption Prevention acts.
Ronnie McFarlane was on January 23 charged with 15 counts of falsification of accounts under the Larceny Act, 15 counts of breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act and one count of conspiracy.
According to reports, the Revenue Protection Department (RPD) is conducting investigations into the theft of motor vehicle registration certificates, blank motor vehicle title forms and motor vehicle license discs (stickers) from the TAJ.
McFarlane is the sixth TAJ staff member to be charged in connection with the loss of the documents and his arrest brings to 16 the total number of people arrested and charged in this matter, the RPD reported.
