Taxi driver chopped to death in Manchester
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The Manchester police confirmed yesterday that a taxi driver died from injuries he received after he was chopped several times Friday night.
He is identified as Ian Altimond Levy, otherwise called ‘Nutsy’, who operates the Greenvale to Mandeville route.
Police reports are that Levy picked up a male and a female passenger in Mandeville around 10:45 pm.
Upon reaching Wint Road, he was ordered by the male passenger to stop.
The man allegedly came out of the vehicle and attacked Levy with a meat chopper.
Levy, 40, reportedly ran from the vehicle and was chased by his attacker who chopped him all over his body.
He died in hospital, police said.
The female passenger, who reportedly sustained injuries from the attacker, was robbed of cash and a cellular phone.
Police said that a man is in custody in relation to the matter.
The latest murder in Manchester pushed the tally to 16 since the start of the year.
