ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Member of Parliament for East Central St Catherine, Alando Terrelonge, today denied claims that Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters have been involved in acts of intimidation in the Southborough Division of Portmore, over the weekend.

People’s National Party (PNP) general secretary-designate Julian Robinson told the Jamaica Observer Sunday that he had received only one report of violence during the party’s islandwide local government election campaign, and that it was related to intimidation of the party’s supporters in the Newlands area of Portmore by labourites.

But Terrelonge said he has only seen camaraderie between JLP and PNP supporters.

“… I have been on the ground campaigning, and what I have seen is a spirit of camaraderie between JLP and PNP supporters,” Terrelonge commented.

He said that campaigning in the Southborough Division, which includes Newlands, has been peaceful and friendly right through to today.

“It has been a peaceful day of polling in Gregory Park, Newlands, Independence City, Silverstone, Southborough, Caymanas Gardens, and Cedar Grove,” Terrelonge insisted.
