Three nabbed at Kingston airport with ganja
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three people accused of drug-related offences are to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court starting this Thursday, with the final case scheduled to be called up next Monday, September 19.
The police have identified the three — two men and a woman — as 36-year-old Ryan Grant of Palmers Cross, Clarendon; 46-year-old Michelle Rogers, otherwise called ‘Karen Davidson’; and 33-year-old Renaldo McKenzie of a Portland address.
They were reportedly arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) between September 3 and September 11.
The police say Rogers will be the first to appear on September 15. She was arrested about 10:40 am on Thursday, September 8, when, during pre-boarding screening by airport officials, she reportedly gave four different addresses.
The police were called in and it was reportedly discovered that she had ingested 30 ganja pellets in addition to having 0.7 pounds of the illegal drug hidden on her body.
McKenzie will be next, with his turn to answer to charges set for Friday, September 16. The police say he was nabbed about 2:15 pm on Friday, September 9, after arriving at the airport to board a flight destined for Barbados.
McKenzie was reportedly stopped, interviewed and his luggage searched. The police say the search revealed a false compartment that contained nine parcels of ganja wrapped in duct tape. The marijuana weighed approximately nine pounds, the police say.
Then Grant will appear on September 19.
He reportedly arrived at the NMIA about 2:55 pm on September 3 with intentions to board a flight for Barbados.
However, he was stopped, interviewed and his suitcase searched. The police say a false compartment was found with compressed ganja weighting three pounds six ounces.
