Tivoli incursion report to be presented before April 30
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The report of the Office of the Public Defender into the incursion by security forces into West Kingston in 2010 is to be tabled in Parliament “before the end of this month”.
This is the assurance from House Speaker Michael Peart.
Peart made the disclosure during this morning’s meeting of the Standing Finance Committee of Parliament which is now examining the 2013/14 Estimates of Expenditure tabled last Thursday.
He was responding to questions raised by the Opposition’s Audley Shaw about the report and the allocations to the Office. The Public Defender has missed several deadlines for submitting the report to parliament leading to calls for his resignation. Parliament has since given assistance to that Office to complete the work.
