Two Jamaicans arrested on immigration charges in Bahamas
NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) — Two Jamaican women have been arrested in a police operation for breaching the Immigration Act after law enforcement authorities said they detained a man after stopping a vehicle on Wednesday.
They said the adult male has also been taken into custody.
The police said that Southwestern Division officers were on routine patrol late on Wednesday night when they spotted a male sitting in a vehicle that was suspected of being used in a number of armed robberies and house breakings.
“On approaching the vehicle, the male threw a firearm outside of the vehicle. The officers recovered the firearm and found it to be a .380 revolver with two live rounds of ammunition. The male suspect was then taken into custody.”
The police said that acting on information they conducted a search of the suspect’s home nearby and uncovered an assortment of jewellery and electronic items suspected of being stolen.
Additionally, two Jamaica females were arrested at the home for breach of the Immigration Act, the police said without providing details on the three arrested people.
