ST JAMES, Jamaica – The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) has said that a man, suspected to be involved in lottery scamming, is to be questioned in the presence of his attorney after he was arrested in Montego Bay, St James.

A United States citizen, who is an alleged lotto-scamming victim, assisted the police with information that led to the man’s arrest.

Reports are that, acting on information from the US citizen who was reportedly lured to the island to discuss his alleged lottery winnings, lawmen conducted an operation on October 20 in Montego Bay.

“This operation resulted in the arrest of one man, who is alleged to be the mastermind,” a recent media release from MOCA said.

The American reportedly told investigators that, over a five-year period, money was sent to the suspect in order to claim his lottery winnings. It was also reportedly revealed that there was an attempt to purchase a motor vehicle with the victim’s credit card.

MOCA said investigations into the matter are continuing.
