Wounded Manchester cop hunts attacker
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Superintendent of the Manchester police division, Vendolyn Cameron-Powell, says a policeman who was attacked in the parish on the weekend was treated and released from hospital and is now part of a team searching for the alleged attacker.
The wounded cop is reportedly attached to the traffic division at the Christiana police station.
According to police reports, he took a female to her home in the Coleyville area at about 4:00 am Sunday morning.
While he was waiting for her to enter the house he was reportedly approached by a man with a machete.
The policeman is said to have fought off his attacker but was left with a wound to the neck for which he received stitches.
The superintendent said that there are no reports that the wounded policeman had any prior altercation with the alleged attacker.
She called on citizens to assist in the search.
