All set for SVL 2-y-o series

THE third and final leg of the English-speaking Caribbean’s most prestigious juvenile horseracing series, the ultra rich Supreme Venture Limited Two-Year-old racing Series, calls curtains on the innovative 2009 racing season with the running of $4.25 million Supreme Ventures Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes Trophy Grade One race over 1,600 metres at Caymanas Park Saturday.

SVL contribution to the purse of the event is $1,000,000.

Another $1.85 million contribution will be made to purses for the other races on a well supported and competitive 12-race programme which is expected to provide another pulsating day of thoroughbred racing at the Park. First post is 11:30 am.

Sponsorship for the gradually progressing SVL Jamaica Two-Year-Old Series is worth $6.5 million with the Cash Pat ‘Only One For Me’ Trophy opening the Series over 1,200 metres on October 17 and the running of the second leg Pick3 Super Challenge Trophy over 1,400 metres on November 28.

Also on the card is the stamina-testing 47th running of the $1,500,000 Harry Jackson Memorial Cup Grade One encounter over 2,400 metres for three-year-olds and upward. Here a field of seven is down to face the starter and include last year’s winner and runner-up Rum Talk and Ad Infinitum respectively. The field will also be enhanced by the presence of Derby, Lotto Classic for the Governor’s Cup and Prime Minister’s Stakes winner He’s Really Ok along with last year’s Prime Minister’s Stakes winner Alliedforce.

The among other major trophies of the 11 races sponsored by SVL are: The Supreme Ventures “Super Challenge” Trophy race for a purse of $865,000 of which SVL will contribute $150,000; the Supreme Ventures “Supreme Encounter” Trophy race for a purse of $815,000 with $100,000 added to purse by the sponsor; the Supreme Ventures “Supreme Canter” Trophy race also for a purse of $815,000 with $100,000 from the sponsor; the Supreme Ventures ” Super Lotto Dash” for a purse of $795,000 with$80,000 from SVL.
